The Voice of the President .
. .
The date of September 11, 2001 will remain in all our
minds forever. The terrorists have caused many hardships for Americans.
Although none of our area residents were directly hurt by this terrorist
act, we are all vulnerable to future terrorist acts. The anger
shown by these terrorists is so very difficult for Americans to understand.
We know this anger had to begin many years ago and this anger is very
widespread in that part of the world.
My message is that we, Americans, must make every effort
to learn much more about the culture and religions of the Middle
East countries such as Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Syria, India,
etc. Only when we understand the mindset of people like
Osama bin Laden, can we resolve this problem.
We may say "what can we do in our small agriculture community."
The Marion community is typical of all of America, therefore again
it becomes important for us to learn why there is so much anger.
America is truly united. We must listen and learn to
allow the uniting of the world. Think with an open mind, listen
with an open ear, try to understand everyone's views—only
then should we express our opinion. |
